Over the years, the Institute of Clinical Research (The ICR) has held many different Forums and Special Interest Groups. Forums consist of talks from a number of experts and are open to all whereas Special Interest groups consist of a number of clinical researchers getting together to discuss specific topics and are limited to members

Benefits of attending a Forum or a Special Interest Group

  • Learn about new industry initiatives
  • Keep up to date with current clinical research issues
  • Hear key industry figures speak about their specialist fields
  • Network with fellow clinical research professionals

If you would like to propose a new Forum/Special Interest Group, please contact The ICR on office@icr-global.org

Decentralised Clinical Trial to Forums and Special Interest Groups

DCT – Special Interest Group
Dr Graham Wiley and Stacey Fergusson, Senior Leader, Clinical Development will be heading up this new group. To register your interest in working with them, please contact ICR on office@icr-global.org

Statement released by Dr Graham Wiley, new board member ICR, Executive Chairman, The MRN:

“While decentralized clinical Trials (DCTs) have been in practice for over 20 years, the Covid-19 pandemic gave this model of conducting clinical trials a spot on the main stage. Pharmaceutical companies and sites united with DCT vendors to provide immediate, safe and convenient care for their patients participating in clinical research. Since the pandemic, the industry has taken time to evaluate and reflect upon the use of DCTs, looking for ways to improve processes and incorporating lessons learned into actionable outcomes.

DCT elements such as home nursing, virtual trial visits and technology applications increase patient access to clinical trials, providing enhanced convenience and removing barriers to traditional visit completion.

For sponsors, DCT elements enable greater patient diversity, faster recruitment, and enhanced retention, whilst not compromising on quality or medical oversight.

As pioneers in this space, we are delighted to contribute to developing professionals, sharing knowledge, and raising standards on the way we deploy and improve decentralized trials, together discovering ways we can help industry adapt, learn,  and deliver DCTs that will increase the efficiency of clinical research.”
